Insurance and Paying for Counseling

At Ebenezer Counseling and Consulting, you can use eligible insurance benefits or pay directly for your sessions. We’re happy to talk through both options so you can choose what works for you.

Using insurance
Insurance can make counseling more affordable, especially when your therapist is in network. What you pay depends on your plan’s deductible, copay, or coinsurance. When we bill insurance, we submit a claim that includes a diagnosis. Coverage for ongoing sessions generally depends on whether treatment meets your plan’s requirements for medical necessity. We are in network with the following insurance providers

  • Aetna
  • Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield
  • Carelon Behavioral Health
  • Cigna
  • Curative
  • Horizon Blue Cross and Blue Shield of New Jersey
  • Independence Blue Cross Pennsylvania – Virtual National Network
  • The Health Plan

Coverage and out-of-pocket costs vary by plan. Before your first session, check your benefits through Headway for your chosen therapist and appointment type. If you’d prefer to pay directly, ask us about our session fees during your free consultation.

Paying directly (fee for service)
You pay the full session fee, which is $75 per session. If you pay directly and don’t seek reimbursement, we don’t submit a claim or send a diagnosis to your insurer for those sessions. We still maintain a clinical record of your care.

What about Christian counseling?
If you’d like to bring your Christian faith into therapy, we’ll follow your lead. We can include Scripture, prayer, or conversations about faith as part of your work toward clinical goals. Insurance may cover those sessions when the psychotherapy meets your plan’s requirements. If your primary goal is spiritual guidance or faith exploration, those services generally fall outside insurance coverage. We can talk with you about whether paying directly makes sense for the kind of support you’re seeking.

If you’re unsure which option fits, bring your questions to a free consultation. We can discuss our session fees, how to check your benefits, and what faith integration could look like for you.
